Manchester City midfielder James Milner wants Arsenal to hand him a four-year contract this summer, according to the Independent.
The report claims that the England international, who is set to run out of his current deal in Manchester at the end of this campaign, wants to move to north London, but wants a long term deal with Arsene Wenger's side.
In fact, the same report has suggested that his current club Manchester City have already offered him an extension, however he wants guarantees over playing time, which may well lead him to the Emirates sooner rather than later.
The future of Milner, of course, has been the subject of much debate of late, with Arsenal's Premier League rivals Liverpool also seemingly interested in his signature.
It appears, though, that he's made his mind up, so it's now down to Wenger and Co. in north London to complete the deal as they go in search of long term success.
Time is right for Milner
At the end of the day, despite a fine few years at the Etihad, it appears that the time is right for Milner to move on as he approaches the latter stages of his career.
Ultimately, a move this summer could prove his last chance to secure a long term deal with a big club, so you can hardly blame him for going in search of one final challenge.
And for Arsenal, Milner would prove a top-quality signing as the club look to close the gap on champions in waiting Chelsea.
Wenger only needs a couple of strong additions this summer and Milner would no doubt improve his options. Available on a free, too, the signing of the City ace appears to be ideal for the Gunners, so expect them to complete the deal.
Wenger, though, may well feel that offering Milner a four-year deal would be a risk, but it's one that could pay off in their hunt for silverware.
