It’s that time of year where the Premier League finishes with a flourish and the transfer rumour-mill kicks into overdrive.
The summer sun is finally starting to break through the clouds and with it comes an abundance of gossip focusing on England’s biggest teams. Chelsea, naturally, are one of England’s biggest teams, incase you hadn’t noticed.
But let’s not beat around the bush. The reason you’ve arrived at this article is to get your fix of the latest Chelsea-related news to be found on the world wide web. Unless we’re wrong then you’ve come to the right place, so without further ado let us crack on with the very best today’s hear-say has to offer.
Diego Costa quickly found his feet in English football and hasn’t really looked back, but that’s not to say that Mourinho’s isn’t interested in improving his strike force. Reports have emerged today insisting that West Ham forward Enner Valencia is on The Special One’s transfer radar as he seeks to give his first-choice striker more cover.
Valencia arrived at the Boleyn Ground last summer and has looked a good fit for the Premier League, with Mourinho having been interested in signing him in the January transfer window. In the end only Juan Cuadrado arrived for the Blues but things could change come the summer, despite the fact that Didier Drogba and Loic Remy both currently call Stamford Bridge home.
Elsewhere it’s believed that Chelsea are aiming to strengthen their back-line and could make a move for Atletico Madrid star Diego Godin.
With John Terry’s career steadily winding down - although admittedly he remains a top quality defender - the Uruguay international could add more mettle and experience to the Blues back-four, with certain claims having it pegged that Mourinho will turn to him if he can’t convince Real Madrid to part ways with Raphael Varane.
Chelsea do have Gary Cahill and Kurt Zouma both fighting for a starting spot to so it’s hardly panic stations for Mourinho, but all the same it would be a surprise if he doesn’t look to ease in Terry’s replacement sooner rather than later.
Last but not least the future of Oscar has taken a surprise twist, as it’s being said this morning that Chelsea will look to offload him to balance their books financially.
The Brazilian playmaker has been getting better with each passing season at Stamford Bridge and letting him go might not be the wisest move - which is why we don’t think Mourinho will do it - but nevertheless it’s said that Liverpool are monitoring the situation with interest.
