Manchester United sources have confirmed that the club are interested in signing Burley striker Danny Ings this summer.
As reported by the Daily Mail, Red Devils chief Louis van Gaal looks set to make movements in the upcoming transfer window, with Ings seemingly on his radar as he continues to stamp his mark on the Old Trafford squad.
Ings, of course, has enjoyed a fine debut campaign in the Premier League, playing an integral role in handing the Clarets a realistic chance of securing their status in England's elite division for another season.
In fact, with nine league goals this term, the talented youngster, who is still only 22-years-old, looks set to go from strength-to-strength as he continues his development in the game.
And it certainly appears that United boss Van Gaal is an admirer, but it remains to be seen as to whether the club step up their interest in him anytime soon.
United certainly have challengers in the race to take him from Burnley, with rivals Liverpool also in the hunt to land the youngster, who's set to run out of his current contract at the end of the campaign.
However, it appears that if United manage to agree a deal with the player then they will have to pay the Premier League strugglers as much as £5 million in compensation, as Van Gaal goes about changing his front line at the Theatre of Dreams.
Risk worth taking
Of course, Ings is unproven at the highest level, but he deserves his chance on the elite stage after enjoying an outstanding season for a struggling side.
Ultimately, at Old Trafford, big-names such as Robin van Persie and Radamel Falcao have failed to produce the goods on a consistent basis under Van Gaal, so perhaps the signing of Ings would freshen things up in Manchester.
If United manage to secure the player's signature, then alongside James Wilson, the club will possess two of the most talented young forwards in the English game. At £5m, Ings is a steal for a club like United.
