Chelsea midfielder Oscar believes that team-mate Eden Hazard is the best player in England.
Hazard has been a key figure in Jose Mourinho’s title campaign this season - and Oscar, who plays alongside him, believes it's his top level consistency that differs him from the rest of the world class talent in the Premier League.
Speaking to Goal, the Brazilian playmaker said: “In my opinion he is the best player in the Premier League at this moment.
“It's very hard pointing out who's the best here or there, especially here with so many good players. But Hazard has been so consistent and he deserves to be considered as the best player in England.
“Obviously we have other good players like Willian, he is only 25, or Diego Costa. We still have room for improvement,” he added.
“If we keep this winning mentality I can't see why other stars can't rise here.”
BY FAR THE BEST?
Hazard has been one of Chelsea’s top performers this season, racking up 12 goals with eight assists, as well as an astonishing eight man of the match awards - more than anyone else in the league.
Oscar’s comments come after Blues boss Mourinho stated that Hazard should outright win the Premier League player of the year award:
“I think what he's doing, speaking in a very honest way, it shouldn't even be a debate,” Mourinho said on Sky Sports.
“If somebody throws other names on the table, it's because he wants to sell papers, wants to throw some sand into people's eyes, because this player [Hazard] is by far the best player in the Premier League all season.”
Chelsea currently sit top of the Premier League - seven points ahead of nearest rivals Arsenal, and if the west London club do manage to win the title come May, we may well see Hazard scoop the individual accolade.
