The deflategate saga is still very raw in minds of many NFL fans across the country.
Some believe the Patriots should have been punished for allegedly tampering with balls in the AFC Championship Game in January, while others see the alleged crime as a misdemeanour.
Even if the Patriots were to be found guilty of tampering with the balls in the AFC Championship Game against the Indianapolis Colts, the fact that the Pats dominated the Colts and scored three touchdowns on the ground through LeGarrette Blount suggests that the Colts would have lost either way.
Regardless of the argument, the discussions about deflategate rage on, albeit involving a decent amount of gentle comedy courtesy of Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo.
That's right. Romo made an appearance at the Academy of Country Music Awards at the weekend and somehow got to talking about deflategate, after co-host Luke Bryan demanded that Romo throw him a football.
Romo duly did, before another co-host, Blake Shelton, asked, “Is this one of those deflated balls?”
Romo responded, according to ProFootballTalk, by saying, with a smile, “Blake, we’re the Dallas Cowboys, We have real balls.”
Is deflate-gate really funny?
Safe to say that the comments from Romo are very funny, but for critics of the Patriots, it still must be frustrating that we have no idea when the report of the Ted Wells investigation will be released.
Whether or not the Patriots will be found guilty remains to be seen, but the lack of transparency over the whole process is slightly worrying.
Watch this space.
