Daniel Bryan vs Bad News Barrett in jeopardy?

Published 23 Comments

Extreme Rules is this Sunday and the match card is almost complete, there are just two question marks hanging over the event.

As of yet, there is no confirmed Divas championship match after the #1 contender Paige was confirmed as being unable to compete.

It is largely expected that a match may be put together on Smackdown on Thursday which will most likely put Divas champion Nikki Bella up against Naomi.

The other question mark surrounds the health of Intercontinental champion Daniel Bryan ahead of the event in Chicago on Sunday.

Bryan was pulled from the WWE's European tour last week and was even absent from RAW tonight despite having a title defense on Sunday.

There have been many rumours about what exactly is wrong with the Intercontinental champion but so far all we know is that the WWE have denied he had a concussion.

Well tonight on RAW, the announce team were taking us through the matches we will see on Sunday and made a very interesting announcement.

When it came time to promote the Intercontinental championship match between Bryan and challenger Bad News Barrett, it was announced that the match may not happen.

Reportedly being dependant on Bryan's health, it now appears that this is not a storyline injury and is in fact a serious situation.

WWE will be cautious over the health of Bryan after his troubled year last year where he missed several months due to being forced into neck surgery shortly after winning the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania XXX.

If Bryan does wrestle at Extreme Rules, it will be interesting to see who wins as the company are reportedly wanting to increase the value of the Intercontinental championship and keeping it with someone who is a potential health risk would not help with that goal.

Fans will surely be unhappy if they have to witness the leader of the yes movement take more time out on the sidelines.

A night of extreme.

Extreme Rules has really been set up to be a memorable night with the steel cage match between Seth Rollins and Randy Orton with the RKO banned set to highlight the event.

John Cena and Rusev will face of for the United States Championship for the third straight pay-per-view in a Russian Chain Match.

Who knows what will happen on Sunday night when the WWE arrives in Chicago for their most extreme night of the year.
