Liverpool defender Kolo Toure insists that club captain Steven Gerrard will bounce back from the Reds' Wembley heartache after his side lost 2-1 to Aston Villa on Sunday.
Aston Villa produced a stunning fightback to beat Liverpool at Wembley and reach their first FA Cup final for 15 years.
Despite Philippe Coutinho's opener, goals from Christian Benteke and Fabian Delph secured the win for Villa, in what was only their second win in six attempts against Liverpool.
But despite the defeat, Toure is confident that Gerrard will bounce back for the fans' sake.
"You feel bad. It is always difficult when you lose a semi-final like that," Toure told Press Association Sport.
"The defeat is the thing. Of course we wanted to do very well for the last game of Stevie for the club but at the end of the day, we wanted to do it for the fans because this club deserves to have a trophy.
"He (Gerrard) is fine. Of course he is sad, like all the dressing room, but he has been in this game for a long time and he knows how to deal with these situations."
Gerrard was set to start the game alongside Lucas Leiva, but the Brazilian midfielder was ruled out of the game through an injury sustained in training in the week.
Despite the injury to Leiva, Toure insisted they should have done better to match Aston Villa's fighting attitude.
"Lucas is a great player but we had players who could do the job," he added.
Defeat in Sunday's semi-final meant that Liverpool are yet to win any silverware under Brendan Rodgers.
And Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher believes that Rodgers needs to start winning trophies to be considered a 'great manager'.
