Manchester United could be dealt a double blow in the transfer market summer, as not only is it virtually assured that Gareth Bale will be staying at Real Madrid, but it looks increasingly likely that David de Gea will leave for the Spanish giants.
What’s more, Louis van Gaal doesn’t deem the Spaniard irreplaceable in any capacity, according to a bold new claim to be found in the Daily Mail. Despite the fact that the 24-year-old stopper has been far and away one of the best players at Old Trafford this term, Victor Valdes was hired for a reason, and perhaps Van Gaal is ready to let De Gea leave if Real come good with their expected raid.
For many months now it’s been assumed that Los Blancos will look to make De Gea their next Galactico, as he’s seen as the ideal man to take them forward between the sticks. Iker Casillas has long been the steward of choice in the goalmouth at the Santiago Bernabeu but his time has run out and, as is the case with the Spanish national team, there’s only one logical choice when it comes to replacing him.

That leaves United with a problem that the fans will hate, but that Van Gaal might already have sorted a solution for. It can be assumed that the Dutchman doesn’t want to see De Gea leave Old Trafford, but if the Mail are to be believed he’s far more prepared for the eventuality than most rumours would have people believe.
On top of that the Red Devils are to be dealt a hammer blow to their chances of prising Bale from Spain this summer, as the Wales international is determined to win over the Bernabeu faithful and restore their faith in him through his performances.

The explosive winger shot to stardom during his first campaign for Real, scoring in both the Copa del Rey and Champions League finals - Real won both competitions as a result - but this year his script has read dramatically differently.
Not only has he been booed and jeered by his own fans at numerous points over the course of the term but he’s also been earmarked for a sale by large portions of the crowd, many of whom would likely leap at the chance to swap him for De Gea.
Nevertheless it’s now believed he wants to follow in the footsteps of Cristiano Ronaldo by becoming a cult hero once more in the Spanish capital, leaving Van Gaal with work to do if he wants to source and acquire a world-class asset.
