Liverpool have made contact with Borussia Dortmund chief Michael Zorc in a bid to make an early inquisition over the availability of Ciro Immobile.
That’s according to the Daily Mail, who cite the Italian forward as a genuine target for Brendan Rodgers ahead of the summer transfer window. Immobile may have endured a torrid year in comparison to last season, but Liverpool feel he’s up to the task of firing them to glory next season, and his versatility makes him even more favourable.
The Mail say that contact has been made with Dortmund, who might well consider a sale given how poorly Immobile has performed in the Bundesliga since making a switch from Torino last summer. The 25-year-old shot to fame in Serie A after finishing as one of Europe’s highest domestic goalscorers during the 2013/14 campaign, but he’s fared far less admirably since moving to Germany.

That, on top of that fact that it’s certain to be a summer of transition at the Signal Iduna Park instigated by Jurgen Klopp’s exit, should be enough to conspire to see him flogged, and if that’s the case Liverpool fans will be rubbing their hands.
Though there’s no promise that he’ll settle in the Premier League it won’t take much for him to be more influential than Mario Balotelli, Fabio Borini and Rickie Lambert this season, and with Rodgers still searching for a replacement for Luis Suarez, a risk may be what’s needed to provide his club with a solution.

For Liverpool are also set for change this summer, what with Steven Gerrard taking his leave for the MLS. Though the midfielder’s departure won’t be necessarily felt on the pitch - his contributions have significantly lessened this term - the Reds are going to have to get used to life without him, and hitting the ground running next year is best way they can go about that.
Naturally finding a prolific partner for Daniel Sturridge would give Rodgers the confidence that his side can kick off next year in the right fashion, and though a lack of Champions League football might stop him getting some targets, Immobile won’t have the same love affair with that competition given that he never experienced it before Dortmund.
