Andriy Yarmolenko’s future has been thrown into further doubt after the winger admitted that he could one day make a move to Italy.
The Ukranian winger has been constantly linked with a move away from Dynamo Kiev for months following a series of dazzling performances in the domestic league.
Yarmolenko has scored 15 goals in 29 appearances, which led to an array of international team’s being linked with a summer move, including PSG, Valencia and Roma.
His Dynamo Kiev team-mate Yehven Konoplyanka was chased by Liverpool last year, but this was to no avail.
Change of mind
It is now thought Brendan Rodgers has turned his attention to Konoplyanka’s team-mate Yarmolenko, following his good performances.
But it is not only Liverpool who are in the run-in for his signature, with Chelsea’s Jose Mourinho also thought to be a big fan of the winger.
Yarmolenko was the stand-out figure in Kiev’s 5-2 demolition of Everton in the Europa League earlier this season, and this attracted an array of admirers.
But despite the Premier League interest in Ukranian international, Yarmolenko has thrown his future into doubt after UEFA reported him as stating that he could one day play in Italy.
“Maybe I’ll play in Italy one day, but for now I’m focused on Dynamo,” a tweet on UEFA’s twitter page read.
This would suggest that Yarmolenko is open to the idea of leaving his homeland in the near future, with Italy a potential avenue when he decided to quit Dynamo Kiev.
But both Liverpool and Chelsea will be optimistic that Yarmolenko changes his mind, should he leave Kiev in the summer.
It is perhaps Liverpool that would benefit from the signing most, having struggled to perform to the same level as they did last season.
