Former NXT Women's Champion Charlotte looks like she is all set to be called up to the main roster.

First she dropped the Championship to Sasha Banks whilst, this week, also failing to become number one contender in a triple threat match with Bayley and Becky Lynch on NXT.

Sparring partner

Her father, The Nature Boy Ric Flair recently conducted an interview with WrestlingNews.co.uk where he raised the proposition of Charlotte facing UFC Women's Champion Ronda Rousey, and whether or not he is a fan of UFC.

"I am when Brock Lesnar or Ronda Rousey [fight] otherwise I'm not. Actually I like Jon Jones. Yea, I like him. He's tremendous. Brock doesn't [fight] anymore and I'm a big fan of Ronda. I think Ronda is fantastic.

"I tossed out the idea of a Ronda Rousey vs. Charlotte match at WrestleMania 33. Lets do it man, that's what I wanna see. Charlotte's not afraid to get in there. In all fairness, if she had a year to train, I'm not saying Ashley would win by any means, but if she had a year to get ready for it, it wouldn't end in round 1...I'll predict that. It wouldn't be a 14 second tap out."

"Ashley would need to learn submission wrestling but Ashley is strong beyond belief. Today, think about it right, she could do 30 front handed pull ups and 100 push ups. She can run at level 9 for an hour on a treadmill and she weights 155 lbs with 3 percent body fat."

Rousey angle

Ronda's last and first appearance in a WWE ring was at WrestleMania 31 where she and The Rock seemed to have set up a match for her and Stephanie McMahon at next year's showcase of the immortals.

Ronda is known to be a big WWE fan and could be open to the idea of facing another legacy diva like Charlotte, given the plaudits Charlotte has been receiving for her work.

The next generation diva will have to be called up to the main roster in order to be considered for a match with Rousey, and hopefully that will be in the not to distant future. It certainly seems WWE's Divas Division could be heading into a new era following AJ Lee's departure.

Even though recent news suggest that Eva Marie is set to be the front runner for the Divas Division over the next few months, there is still hope that the likes of Sasha Banks and Charlotte will also be given their opportunities to shine on the main stage.
