Manchester United winger Ashley Young has admitted that he had a conversation with former manager Sir Alex Ferguson about his reputation.
As reported by the Guardian, Young has insisted that he never intended to cause any controversy when on the pitch, but admits everyone is entitled to their opinion.
Ultimately, when playing his football under Ferguson, the former Villa man was often the subject of criticism, as he appeared to go down too easy when challenged.

Talks with Ferguson
Young, though, despite admitting talks with Ferguson, has insisted that any decision should be down to the referee.
The wide-man said: “I don’t want any controversy. We did have a conversation, we did talk about it and everyone is entitled to their opinion.

"It was talked about a lot but, for me, it was always down to the referees to give decisions.”
This season, though, has been very different for Young as he's arguably been in the best form of his career.
Consistently producing the goods under the Louis van Gaal regime, the versatile winger has kept the likes of Angel di Maria and Adnan Januzaj out of the side this season. With five Premier League games to go, Young will no doubt be hoping to continue to prove himself, starting with the Red Devils' clash with Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday.
Tide is turning
Hi critics are slowly but surely disappearing and Young deserves a great deal of credit for that. Only 12 months ago, despite some impressive performances in the early stages of his Manchester United career, the England international was labelled a flop, as the Red Devils endured a torrid campaign under ex-manager David Moyes.
It's all different for Young now, however, with the player starring week in, week out, seemingly enjoying himself under the guidance of Van Gaal.
Arguably Young has been United's standout outfield player of the season, alongside the likes of Michael Carrick and Wayne Rooney, perhaps.
The diving has seemingly stopped, too, and he seems better for it. If he keeps this up, then he will deservedly gain an England recall.
