Manchester United make the trip to Goodison Park this weekend and BBC pundit Mark Lawrenson has predicted the game will end a 1-1 draw.
Lawrenson was up against snooker player Mark Selby in this week’s edition of ‘Lawro predicts’, and he thinks the game will be tightly contested.
The former Liverpool defender said of Everton: “Their performance against the Clarets was nothing special, but they won.
“I am sure they were happy enough to get a result without playing well when you consider that for long spells of this season they played OK but ended up beaten.”
Roberto Martinez’s team are currently five games unbeaten after seeing off the Clarets last week, and sit in 12th place in the Premier League.
Much of Everton’s pre-match talk of late has been surrounding the future of Belgian forward Kevin Mirallas, who has been linked with a move to White Hart Lane.
He is thought to be interested in a move to Tottenham, with Aaron Lennon thought to be going the other way after a successful loan spell at Goodison Park.
Manchester United form
Meanwhile, Lawrenson also believes that although United put up a good fight against Chelsea last week, their lack of goal-scoring threat could hamper their chances against Everton.
“Manchester United are also in decent form, and put up a good fight in their defeat by Chelsea last weekend," added the Match of the Day pundit.
“I would not get carried away by that display in the way some people did, though. I don't remember Blues keeper Thibaut Courtois having too many saves to make.”
United go into the game after winning four of their last five, including the 4-2 derby victory over Manchester City.
