Liverpool could move for Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke this summer, according to the Daily Mail.

The report claims that the Reds could make a move for the Belgian international, who has been rated at around the £30 million mark.

Benteke, despite enduring a tricky start to the campaign, has been in glorious form of late, playing a key role in his side's run to the FA Cup final, as well as handing them a great chance of securing their place in England's elite division.

Double deal

In fact, the same report has even suggested that the Merseyside outfit could swoop for Benteke even if they bring Burnley forward Danny Ings to the club.

Ings, despite a recent goal drought, has impressed in his debut campaign in the Premier League, but it remains to be seen as to whether the club's hierarchy manage to get either deal over the line.

In need

There's no doubt about it, as the club go in search of long term success, they are in need of improvement in the attacking department.

Ultimately, the duo of Rickie Lambert and Mario Balotelli have failed to fire throughout the season, while Daniel Sturridge has struggled to maintain his fitness.

Ings and Benteke, then, would act as fine signings for Rodgers, who must act sooner rather than later.
