Adrian Peterson's options for the 2015 season appeared to be at an all time high when, last week, he was reinstated into the NFL.
That positive for the Minnesota Vikings running back has though been dampened by recent events that have seen a couple of teams appear to rule themselves out of a move.
And now, with comments made today, we can add another team to the list of franchise's distancing themselves from AP. This time a team out of the NFC.
"Our focus has to be on this year's draft," said Atlanta Falcons general manager Thomas Dimitroff when the Peterson subject was broached by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
"We're ready to move on from that discussion."
It is widely believed that Adrian Peterson - unhappy with a perceived lack of support from the Vikings during his suspension in relation to a domestic abuse accusation - wants out of Minnesota.
To hear that the Atlanta Falcons have followed in the footsteps of both the Jacksonville Jaguars and Dallas Cowboys in removing themselves from an apparent shortlist will undoubtedly come as something of a blow.
Many feel the Minnesota Vikings would only participate in an Adrian Peterson trade if it involved 2015 NFL Draft picks. With the annual occasion now less than a week away time is starting to run out for the 10,000 yard RB veteran, it seems.
There are though a couple of teams that are believed to be keen on the idea. Most importantly, the Arizona Cardinals - the team most strongly linked to a trade - are yet to rule themselves out.
