WWE: Which feuds could bring out the best in Neville?

Published Add your comment

The night after WrestleMania NXT lost one of its most talented superstars to the main roster and he has wowed fans ever since his explosive debut. Neville is certainly turning heads every week.

He defeated Curtis Axel in his first match and has already managed to put on great performances against the likes of Sheamus and even current WWE World Heavyweight Champion, Seth Rollins.

So he’s already getting a taste of the big time quite early on in his main roster career and this patient approach with him is the best way for him to go over with the fans in the future.

But there will be a time in the coming months where the WWE need to throw Neville into a feud, a relevant one which will not only be entertaining for the WWE Universe but also an opponent who can get the best out of Neville and continue to build him up as this bright NXT star who has taken the main roster by storm.

Here are the potential feuds I believe the WWE could consider to get the best out of Neville early on.

We’ve seen Dolph Ziggler and Neville team up recently and they seem to be doing a good job together. Considering they’re seen as the underdogs by someone like Sheamus for example, so they have something they can relate to.

But Ziggler is someone on the roster who can make Neville bigger than he already is. Say Ziggler turns heel for example on someone like Neville then Neville would potentially gain immense fan support - more than he already has.

Neville will always have his loyal NXT fan base so there’s no reason the WWE can’t experiment a little with him in regards to his feuds, and even though a Ziggler and Neville feud looks unlikely right now, the WWE should consider this as Ziggler is fantastic in the ring, can sell every single move. If the two have chemistry there then their matches should be brilliant too.

This could happen relatively soon, unless the WWE have plans in place for Sheamus to contend for championships. If not then we can expect Sheamus to target Neville as he’s already fed up with the ‘go-getters’ in the business and he’s targeted Daniel Bryan and Dolph Ziggler so next in line should be another smaller star who the fans seem to love, Neville.

The two have already faced off before and their match did look good, which means that if they could have a couple of matches then it should be an interesting feud because the fans really dislike Sheamus right now and they are on the Neville bandwagon.

Plus they have contrasting styles in the ring with Sheamus being the reckless, brutal superstar whilst Neville is called the man that gravity forgot for a reason, he has a highly impressive arsenal and when put up against somebody like Sheamus, the matches are expected to impress.

The Miz is a natural heel, the fans are meant to hate him and he is one of the best at ensuring he comes across as selfish and arrogant. If the WWE want Neville’s popularity to increase against a good opponent, you put him against The Miz who will not only get Neville an immense reaction on a weekly basis like he has managed to do with Damien Mizdow, but they can also have an entertaining feud.

They are very different in terms of their in-ring styles and their gimmicks. The Miz has reached the pinnacle of the WWE by becoming the WWE Champion and he’s now a self-proclaimed Hollywood superstar and the world seemingly revolves around him.

Neville meanwhile, reached the pinnacle of NXT by becoming the NXT Champion and wants to replicate that success on the main roster simply by competing in the ring.

With Cesaro and Tyson Kidd, Neville has two readymade feuds set up for him. Whether it happens as a tag team or not, true wrestling fans should be excited by this as long as their feud is given enough TV time and something for the fans to tune in to, not something relegated to the pre-show on a monthly basis.

Who knows how long Tyson Kidd and Cesaro will continue to team up for, as a Tyson Kidd fan I hope it doesn’t end but if the WWE need to pull the trigger and ensure Neville is over, they could go with it.

Cesaro is the perfect opponent for Neville, simply because he’s that good and versatile in the ring, so good that he can mix it up with anyone with any style and still steal the show with an impressive performance.

We’ve seen Cesaro put on great performances against other NXT stars such as Sami Zayn in match of the year contenders so, when you put his talent alongside Neville’s talent, you know you’re in for a treat.

Tyson Kidd would be my first choice, he’s doing some of the best work he’s ever done thanks to his stint down on NXT and he has grown into a true heel whilst maintaining his impressive move-set and puts on great matches every single week.

He had a very entertaining feud with Neville down on NXT for the NXT Championship and the two made sure that NXT was must-watch for them two considering the brand had so many other stars fans loved.

And they always stepped it up on the TakeOver events, and if that’s anything to go by then main roster fans could be in for a treat also and it would be a great way for Neville to work with someone he knows and is comfortable with as Kidd could get the best out of Neville as he starts his main roster career.
