The New Day win Tag Titles at Extreme Rules

Published 1 Comments

Extreme Rules dealt with much of the fallout from WrestleMania XXXI and in the absence of an Intercontinental Championship match, another took its place on the main show.

The pre-show saw the man who should have challenging for the Intercontinental Championship, Bad News Barrett, take on the young high flyer Neville.

We saw the man that gravity forgot push the former Intercontinental Champion to the limit and even get the win.

Barrett vs Neville was moved to the pre-show and the match which was meant to take place before the opening pyro in Rosemont, Illinois made its way to the main show.

The Tag Team championship match between the champions Tyson Kidd and Cesaro and the New Day was put on the main show and it was a great match to witness.

The New Day's descent to a heel faction came full circle tonight as they managed to win the Tag Team champions for the first time.

Their brand of 'positivity' has not gone down well with the WWE Universe and resulted in a match between two heel teams taking place.

Cesaro and Kidd have been a heel team ever since winning the championships from the Usos back at Fastlane.

With the Usos out of the picture, the WWE have really capitalised on the heat the New Day have been receiving and have now made the strange choice to give them the titles.

The New Day are arguably the best heel group in the WWE right now and will surely be on a collision course with Cesaro and Kidd again at Payback.

The question however becomes, how long will the New Day hold the titles and will their patented brand of positivity continue to keep the belts around their waist?

Next contenders?

Whilst Cesaro and Kidd undoubtedly have their rematch clause and will surely clash with the new champions next month at Payback, eyes will have to look at who else may be able to challenge the New Day.

It could certainly be argued that the New Day were only in the title match tonight due to some underhanded tricks in their match with the Lucha Dragons.

Could the Lucha Dragons be set to challenge for the titles in the coming months? Perhaps at the event after Payback which will be Money in the Bank?
