Seth Rollins has had his first ever WWE World Heavyweight Championship match that was pre- planned and unsurprisingly, it ended in controversy.
The match was contested inside of a steel cage with the added rule that the RKO was banned.
However it was always clear that the move would be used in the match in some way however it was difficult to predict exactly how.
Despite there being a large portion of outside interference from J&J Security and the official gatekeeper for the match, Kane, Seth Rollins found a way to retain his title.
The use of the RKO was banned for the match clearly the loophole in that rule was that it never specified who could and who couldn't use it.
Rollins made use of the RKO in order to keep Orton down and then escape the cage through the door and make his first successful title defense.
There was outrage amongst the announcers as Jerry Lawler and Michael Cole both stressed their displeasure with the apparent loophole.
Orton pretty much had the match won including making use of Triple H's pedigree on Rollins to send a message to the Authority.
Eventually, Rollins would drop kick the cage door into Kane and the Director of Operations would not take the action lightly.
He got into the ring and delivered a chokeslam to both Orton and Rollins along with both members of J&J Security.
Orton would deliver the RKO to Kane before turning to receive his own finishing move off of Rollins and then officially losing the match.
So the question now becomes, who will be Rollins' challenger when the WWE are next on PPV at Payback next month?
There was a video leaked several days ago showing that Payback may have a triple threat match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship with Orton and Roman Reigns challenging for the title.
A triple threat match at Payback would certainly be something to be hold and with Reigns having overcome the Big Show at Extreme Rules, he does appear to be free to begin a new rivalry.
