Newcastle United have offered Liverpool transfer target Andrew Ayew a four-year contract with the club, according to reports.
The 25-year-old winger is out-of-contract with Marseille at the end of the season, and is widely expected to leave the Ligue 1 club after a eight year spell with the club, say the Daily Mirror.
Liverpool have also been closely linked with the winger, who has had another strong season with Marseille, scoring eight goals in 23 appearances.
But Liverpool aren’t the only Premier League club ready to making a move for the midfielder, with local rivals Everton interested, as well as Swansea City. The Toffees look set to lose Kevin Mirallas at the end of the season, as Spurs step up their pursuit of the Belgian winger, paving the way for a potential move for Ayew.
Ayew has also attracted European interest, with Serie A outfits Napoli and Roma linked with a move. Meanwhile Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund and Wolfsburg are also monitoring his situation.
Deal fell through
The Ghanian international was also closely linked with a move to Queens Park Rangers in January, but the deal stalled and Harry Redknapp quit the club following the failure to sign the winger.
Possessive of a release clause in his contract that stands at €18m, it was expected that he would go before now, though no teams decided to meet the offer. As a result Ayew will leave on a free transfer this summer, unless Marseille offer him a new deal that he is prepared to accept.
That outcome seems unlikely due to the form of fellow French internationals Dimitri Payet and Florian Thauvin, both of whom are preferred by coach Margarita Louis-Dreyfus.
