Liverpool front man Daniel Sturridge is currently suffering from a hip injury that denied him the chance to play in the FA Cup semi-final clash with Aston Villa.
The injury will also see the England international miss the clash against West Bromwich Albion and now it's been reported by The Guardian that Rodgers is uncertain when the striker will return from injury.
In the 2013/14 season, the 25-year-old netted on 21 occasions for the Reds and boasted a rather exceptional goal to game ratio. However, due to an unlucky spell of injuries, the Englishman's form has been affected; Sturridge has found the back of the net on just five occasions in 20 appearances in all competitions this season respectively.

The Liverpool boss has now stated that Liverpool desperately need to sign a proven goalscorer that can deliver goals on a consistent basis.
The Anfield outfit said goodbye to Luis Suarez at the end of the season as he departed for Barcelona, and this was just the start of the Reds' strike force crisis; the injury to Daniel Sturridge added insult to injury, making circumstances almost unbearable for Reds fans.

Rodgers failed to replace Suarez and its proven to be costly for his Merseyside outfit, they sit in fifth position in the Premier League ahead of their clash with West Brom, seven points adrift of fourth placed Manchester City.
Although Liverpool have a game in hand top four is still quite unlikely, and despite the improbability of a top four finish nothing is impossible. The five time European champions can still turn things around, given they perform at their absolute best throughout the remainder of the season. Amid their troubles up front and in the backline, the Reds also need to bolster up their midfield by bringing in reinforcements. Either way the Merseyside outfit are in significant need of strikers and midfielders.
Liverpool have been linked with at least a dozen players in the past season, and here are the Red's top eight transfer targets, consisting of forwards and midfielders.
8. Mario Mandzukic
The former Bayern Munich forward has netted 12 times for his new side Atletico Madrid in 24 appearances whilst also racking up five assists.
It was reported that Mandzukic had a falling out with Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone. A transfer away from Atletico is now looking very likely, and the Reds are keen to sign the clinical finisher who is rumoured to be worth £26 million.
7. Radamel Falcao
The Colombian hitman has failed to make any kind of impact at Old Trafford during his loan spell, which will likely result in the former Atletico Madrid star leaving the Red Devils for good.
The Reds are very keen to bring the 29-year-old to Anfield, in a bid to add more goals to their game. If the Anfield side are to secure the signature of Falcao, they must fend off competition from a determined Stamford Bridge outfit who are also keen to collect the services of the Manchester United flop.
Just over two years ago Falcao was one of the most feared forwards in the world and if he can rediscover some of his best form, he would be a good acquisition for any club.
6. Gonzalo Higuain
The clinical Argentine has a remarkable goal scoring record in his past few seasons. This season Higuain has scored 13 goals while racking up six assists.
The brilliant finisher scored 107 league goals in 190 appearances for Real Madrid, an exceptional goal return. Since joining Napoli, Higuain has scored 30 goals in 61 appearances.
Liverpool have been linked with the 27 year old for a while now amid strong Arsenal interest. The Napoli forward still has a lot to offer and would be a great addition to any squad.
5. Radja Nainggolan
The Belgian is known for his hard-tackling style of play, but aside from that the Roma midfielder is also a great playmaker.
The 26-year-old may have only scored three goals and assisted one, but the midfielder impacts the game massively. Nainggolan would be a huge asset for the Reds and would be beneficial to them in the short term and long term.
4. Asier Illarramendi
The 25-year-old Spaniard wouldn't mind leaving the Santiago Bernabeu in a bid to get regular playtime, Liverpool could be the perfect destination as they are keen to improve their midfield.
Illarramendi has made just seven starts for the European champions this season. It has been reported that Liverpool have already made an offer for the midfielder. Illarramendi would be a great signing for the Reds.
3. Jackson Martinez
The 28-year-old has been linked with a move to the Premier League for a long time now, and Liverpool are said to be interested in the Colombian strikers services.
Martinez has scored 63 league goals in 85 appearances for Portuguese side FC Porto.
Martinez is a proven goalscorer and has the potential to be great at a top European club respectively.
The young Spaniard has the potential be one of the worlds best midfielders, but in order to accomplish that, the 23-year-old might have to leave Real Madrid to seal more play time.
This season Isco has been one of the best players in the Spanish league despite starting just 22 matches; Isco has recorded three goals and eight assists this season.
According to the Daily Mail, the talented playmaker made remarks suggesting he regrets not accepting a move to the Premier League with Manchester City two years ago. Liverpool will have a battle on their hands if they are to secure Isco's signature as Manchester City and Arsenal are also interested.
Isco is already a brilliant midfielder and you can't help but think how much he could help the Reds midfield dilemma.
1. Memphis Depay
The young and exciting Dutch winger has been linked many top clubs including Real Madrid, however the 21-year-old has been significantly linked with Manchester United and Liverpool who will battle it out for Depay's signature.
It is now thought that Liverpool have a strong chance of signing the Dutch international following reports from the Mirror claiming that the Reds held secret talks with Depay.
Depay enjoyed success with PSV this season, after being crowned champions in this past week. Depay scored 20 league goals and assisted three in 27 appearances. The Dutch ace could be a huge signing for the Reds, especially is Sterling is to exit Anfield.
