It is no secret that Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal is a big fan of the Bundesliga and the players produced by the German top division.
He was linked with Borussia Dortmund's Mats Hummels last summer and now it would appear likely the Dutchman will renew his interest in the central defender.
With Jurgen Klopp leaving as Dortmund's head coach, there are a few experts who believe that Hummel's time at Dortmund could come to an end this year. It is an assertion that, of course, makes sense.
The Germany international has said he will weigh up his options upon the season's conclusion, and that does not sound like true commitment to the cause.
Many sources report that Manchester United have already made an official bid for Dortmund's captain and it remains to be seen just how much the Germans will be able to squeeze out of the Premier League giants.
But Hummels is not the only World Cup winner reported to have caught Van Gaal's eye. Rumours surfaced last summer that Van Gaal would like to recruit his favourite player from his time in Munich, Bastian Schweinsteiger.
The captain of the German national team has always said in interviews that he is very thankful for Van Gaal and the way he helped him improved his game. But would he consider a reunion in Manchester?
It has been reported that Manchester United could get Schweinsteiger this summer because Pep Guardiola is looking to rejuvenate his squad, which includes seven players older than 30.
Whether Manchester United will be able to sign these Bundesliga stars or not has yet to be decided. But the fact that United will most likely be playing Champions League football next year will only improve their chances.
It seems very likely that Hummels at least will look for a new challenge this summer and the Premier League seems to be the right way for him.
