This past Sunday at WWE’s Extreme Rules pay-per-view we saw some pretty incredible matches.
From Kidd and Cesaro losing the tag titles to the New Day and John Cena retaining the U.S. Title in a brutal chain match against Rusev, to Seth Rollins retaining the WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Randy Orton - using Randy’s own RKO to secure victory.
But one match stood out. That match was the Last Man Standing battle pitting Roman Reigns against The Big Show. If the naysayers want to continue to say that Reigns, or even Big Show, are not main eventers, they need to watch that match. From bell to bell, this match was Roman Reigns’ best to date.
The former seven-time world champion dished out everything he had to keep Roman down for the 10 count, but Roman kept getting back up. This was especially the case when Show delivered his knockout punch. Roman managed to get to his feet as the referee reached seven.
Show would also deliver a devastating choke slam to Reigns from inside the ring to the floor through two tables and still he managed to get to his feet by eight to the utter disbelief of Show. Roman, shortly after, would follow this with one of the most beautiful spears ever delivered, sending Show through the timekeepers barricade, but to Reigns surprise, Show was back to his feet at nine.
The action was back and forth from bell to bell - finally coming to an extreme end as Reigns would deliver the most explosive spear of his career.
Stunning show of strength
Roman Reigns launched himself from the steps Show set up by Layfield and Lawlers announce table earlier through the Spanish announce table. To add salt in the wound and insure victory, Reigns would lift the intact commentary table and pile it on top of Show, stand on it and take his victory.
This match showed the world that Roman Reigns is more than ready to main event and take his place as champion, and, if rumors are accurate, we will see this next month at the Payback pay-per-view. Reigns is a force to be reckoned with and this brutal statement he made at the Last Man Standing match is evident of just that. This will make believers out of the naysayers.
