In what is less of a shock and more of a 'typical' statement from Jose Mourinho, the Chelsea boss has claimed that the PFA Team of The Year should have been filled with his own players - the entire line up in fact.
The team which was selected prior to the awards ceremony in London on Sunday night "would not win the league" according to Mourinho, who saw six of his players, over half of the selection, be named in the XI.
The rest of the team made up of Philippe Coutinho (Liverpool) and Alexis Sanchez (Arsenal) in midfield, David de Gea (Man Utd) in goal, Ryan Bertrand (Southampton) in defence, and Young Player of the Year Harry Kane (Spurs) leading the line.
But Mourinho claimed that the side lacked a midfield balance, pointing to the fact that Cesc Fabregas, with 16 assists this season, did not make it into the final team.
As quoted by The Guardian, Mourinho was more than outspoken about Fabregas being left out.
“But, just as an example, the season Fàbregas is doing, the number of assists and quality of his game … not to be there is a bit strange."
Although admitting that his opinion was slightly biased the Chelsea manager claims he looks at the team as a supporter, indicating his opinion was one the rest of football fans agreed with.
Chelsea, who are closing in on the Premier League at a sure-fire rate, have been the outstanding club this season, but not for their flashy football and have often been called boring, an opinion that Mourinho resents.
Performances since Chelsea lost 5-3 at the hands of Harry Kane and Spurs have resulted in more resolute performances and, as many of the fans at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday put it, created "Boring, Boring Chelsea".
However, quick as ever on the defensive and as silver-tongued as always, Mourinho jested that it was "more boring" to go 10 years without winning the Premier League.
The Portuguese has often been a favourite of the press for his outlandish statements, and it looks like his attitude is continuing to stir up the Premier League, even in the latter stages of the season.
