It hasn't exactly been the best past week or so for Liverpool fans, but the club may well have just been handed a boost in their pursuit of Dutch international Memphis Depay.
As reported by the Liverpool Echo, the versatile forward, who has enjoyed a remarkable season plying his trade for PSV, may well have hinted at a move to Anfield after liking a post on his official Facebook account welcoming him to Liverpool.
Depay, of course, has hit the headlines in recent weeks, with his long term future in the game seemingly in some doubt. Having fired his side to the Eredivisie title this term, Depay looks set to win the Golden Boot award in the division after finding the back of the net on 21 occasions.

In fact, as well as Liverpool, their Premier League rivals Manchester United have also been linked with the youngster, as Louis van Gaal goes in search of improving is side at Old Trafford.
One thing's for sure it looks set to be a busy summer for Depay, but it remains to be seen as to whether he will arrive on English soil in the upcoming window.

Of course, as it stands, Depay would be arriving at Anfield without the prospect of Champions League football for the 2015/16 campaign. After last night's disastrous defeat at the hands of strugglers Hull City at the KC Stadium, the Reds are seven points behind rivals Manchester United, who currently sit in fourth place in England's elite division.
And with just four league games remaining, time is running out for the Merseyside outfit to catch the Red Devils, which may well see them qualify for the Europa League instead.
Depay is needed
There's no doubt about it, after this season's struggle, Depay would prove a fine coup for Brendan Rodgers. Ultimately, Liverpool have failed to fire in the attacking department throughout the course of the campaign, so Depay would give the side an added threat when on the front foot.
And, at just 21-years-old, the Dutchman has a huge future in the game, so he would become a key player for the long term. With the ability to both create and score goals, Rodgers and Co. have to take a gamble on him in the summer window, while attempting to offload the likes of Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert, who have endured nightmare campaigns.
