To the casual NFL observer it might seem like Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson is the only player in the NFL being subject to trade talk.
However, this couldn't be further from the truth with the New York Jets creating plenty of headlines, albeit not as major as Peterson's, this week.
Fans might immediately think the Jets are courting a player from another team with a view to planning a trade, but it is in fact the opposite scenario, with the Jets currently fielding trade enquiries for one of their star defensive players.
Plenty of suitors
Muhammad Wilkerson is the player being subject to trade interest, with ESPN reporting on Tuesday that at least two teams have called the Jets to see if the defensive end is available.
"According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, at least two teams have called the Jets to see if defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson was available," ProFootballTalk reported.
Although these are just reports at the moment, a couple of developments within the last week suggest the Jets could be interested in a trade.
Trade could happen
First of all, Wilkerson will be staying away from offseason workouts because he wants a new contract with the Jets.
This decision is likely to have angered Gang Green, who are said to be tracking Southern California defensive lineman Leonard Williams.
Should they select Williams in the 2015 NFL Draft, the Jets will certainly be overly rich at his and Wilkerson's position, which could lead to a potential trade post-draft.
Of course at this point we are merely speculating, but given Wilkerson's contract issues, the Jets trading him wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility.
What do you think about the Wilkerson trade talk? And should the Jets trade him if they pick up Williams in the draft? Let us know below.
