Chelsea Manager Jose Mourinho says that he will look to strengthen his squad in the summer.
The Blues look set to win the Premier League at a canter, however Mourinho believes there are still areas of his squad that need addressing to give his side more ‘strength and depth’ as they look to compete across four different competitions.
ESPN quote Mourinho as saying: "We need a couple of players to give more strength and depth to the squad.
"We want to keep the same number of players and have a more uniform group in terms of not quality but experience, to give us that little bit of extra in case we progress in the Champions League."
Chelsea have remarkably used just 22 players in their pursuit of Premier League glory, however it has been suggested that Mourinho’s reliance on such a small number of players has seen their performances wane towards the end of the season.
Reports in the Sunday Express this morning claim that Chelsea will make a move for Paris Saint Germain striker Edinson Cavani.
The striking department tops Morinho’s list of priorities after a number of injury setbacks have limited the use of Diego Costa in the second half of the season.
There are also fitness concerns over Loic Remy, and Chelsea’s only other striking option 37-year-old Didier Drogba, whose future is set to be decided in the summer when he meets with Roman Abramovich.
Mourinho added: "I just imagine this last period of the season only with one striker. Imagine in this moment if we have only had Didier to play Champions League, Premier League, Champions League, Premier League. It would be a difficult situation.
"We were unlucky to have two strikers injured at the same time. When you have three, one can be injured or suspended, but when you have two out it can be difficult."
