Arsenal captain Mikel Arteta may have already signed a new contract at the Emirates, according to the Mirror.
The report claims that the former Everton man, who has endured a tricky campaign under the guidance of Arsene Wenger in north London, is understood to have signed a new one-year deal with the club, despite the fact that the club are yet to confirm it.
Arteta, who is now 33-years-old, has spent several months of the season on the sidelines recovering from an ankle injury, however it appears that he will remain in north London for the 2015/16 season.
It was only a few weeks ago that the Spaniard insisted that it would only take him five minutes to sign a new contract with the club.
Arteta previously told reporters : "My only aim is to get back fit and try to perform on the pitch.
“As long as I do that I am sure that I will continue with this club, with the relationship I have with the club and the respect I have from everybody here.
"If I don't do that then I am not going to be here because I don't want to be somewhere where I cannot perform at my best and give what I think I can give.
"In May, when everything is fine, we will sit down and talk and it will take five minutes."
One more season
If the report is to be believed, and Arteta has signed a new deal with the Gunners, then it has to go down as a good piece of business from the club's hierarchy.
Despite the fact that the player has endured a tricky campaign, he's still a fine squad player to have, and will no doubt have a role to play for the club next season.
Ok, it's unlikely that he will play week in, week out, but he certainly has the experience to guide some f the club's younger players through next season.
