It’s with a degree of certainty that we can predict Manchester United fans need more than just a little cheering up this week on the football front.
What was supposed to be a routine home victory against West Brom last weekend ended in a drab 1-0 defeat, allowing Liverpool to take a step closer to stealing the fourth Champions League spot in the process and seeing the Red Devils record their third straight loss.
Louis van Gaal is likely seething at the run of poor form, virtually all of the players will want to finish the season with renewed vigour and the fans are expecting plenty more from the side that has looked comfortable in the top four for most of the campaign.

Garay interest ignited
First and foremost we offer up a transfer special, with Italian TV station Sport Mediaset claiming that Van Gaal has reignited interest in Argentina centre-back Ezequiel Garay. Fans will most likely remember him from his days at Real Madrid and Benfica but, now at Zenit St. Petersburg, it would appear he’s still doing enough to catch the eye.

The 28-year-old was a target for Sir Alex Ferguson before the Scot’s retirement and has in the past claimed that the only reason a move to Old Trafford didn’t come to fruition is because David Moyes became manager. A bold shout, but one that might turn out to be by-the-by if Van Gaal has his way.
The source in question reckons Garay could be on the market for as little as €18 million which, for an experienced centre-back, is a relative bargain. Mats Hummels is sure to remain the primary target, but the Zenit man could turn out to be a credible backup option.
Next up Ashley Young’s rags to riches United fairytale under Van Gaal is set to have its next chapter scripted, with United said to be prepared to offer him a new three-year deal worth £120,000-a-week.
The English winger, who was so often ostracised for under-performing before the Dutchman arrived, has looked a different player this year, and the memory of United fans ridiculing him for eating bird poo must seem like a nightmare from a world away.
Last but not least we turn to the latest speculation on Radamel Falcao, with AS Monaco’s vice president Vadim Vasilyev having professed that the Red Devils haven’t yet come to a decision regarding his future.
The Colombian has struggled to impress at United so far this season, but Vasilyev has made it clear that United will wait until the summer before opting whether or not to bring him in permanently.
