Thorgan Hazard has shed light on his elder brother’s plans for the future, insisting that Eden Hazard wants to continue playing for Chelsea for a long time yet.
The younger Hazard, who left the Blues for Borussia Monchengladbach earlier this year after spending time on loan with the Bundesliga outfit, claimed that Eden, who has become the key man under Jose Mourinho since The Special One’s return, has no intention of leaving for pastures new despite the fact Real Madrid are said to be interested.
It’s been a campaign to remember for the most successful Hazard sibling, who has once again attracted plaudits galore for his work in Chelsea’s attacking third.
The Belgium international has not only managed to find the back of the net 14 times in the Premier League but this weekend scored the decisive goal that saw the Blues beat Crystal Palace and lift the English title for the first time in five years.
Such classy performances have led to strong interest from Spain, where money-bags Real Madrid are plotting to add the next Galactico to their ranks. Hazard recently signed a new long-term deal at Stamford Bridge but that might not be enough to halt Los Blancos in their tracks. Hazard’s determination to stay though, just might.
"He is really, really focused on Chelsea," Thorgan Hazard said, as relayed by the Daily Express.
"He wants to win the Champions League there and now he has signed a new contract and enjoys England.
“Eden feels good in the Chelsea team and plays with good players.
“Eden is very happy and he is winning trophies.
“His family is settled, he’s enjoying his time, he has signed a new contract to stay for a long time.”
Great news for the fans
Though Thorgan probably can’t claim to know the deepest innermost desires of his brother’s mind it’s a safe bet that he’s in regular correspondence with him and as a result can have a fairly educated guess at his feelings on the future.
That means it’s good news Chelsea fans; Eden Hazard looks set to stay until he successfully aids Mourinho in his attempt to win the Champions League in west London.
In truth to stay put might just present Hazard with the best possible chance of further developing his skills, and if he wants to bridge the gap between Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and the rest of the footballing world then he’ll need to improve on certain aspects of his game.
At the moment the ex-Lille man is arguably the most efficient attacking-midfielder in the Premier League but he needs to score more goals if he’s to enter the world-class category that eludes so many gifted players. With England’s elite division being considered the toughest nut to crack of all the European leagues Hazard is in the perfect place to hone his skills, after all he is only 24.
