CM Punk's career in the WWE was an awesome one for a while but it ultimately ended up with an acrimonious exit and with a WWE doctor filing a lawsuit against the former WWE champion.
Having left the WWE in January 2014, fans around the WWE Universe were subsequently treated to endless rumors and speculation about when and if Punk would return to the WWE.
In the end, nothing transpired regarding a WWE return for Punk, and the former champ went even further to frustrate the wrestling company by criticising several employees of the WWE in an interview on Colt Cabana's podcast, with WWE doctor Christopher Amann taking the brunt of the criticism, before Amann subsequently filed a lawsuit against Punk for the comments.
Unlikely return to WWE
While many fans might hope and pray that CM Punk returns to WWE one day, the likelihood of that happening remains very slim after his comments and the way he left things with WWE.
However, the likelihood of Punk returning to wrestling of any kind is a different beast altogether, and former TNA star Samoa Joe says that Punk is desperate for one last go in wrestling before he retires.
Wants a wrestling return
"Joe and CM Punk have been very good friends for year and he said that he’d love CM Punk to wrestle him one more time. “I know he very much wants to have one last go,” Joe said about Punk wrestling one more time on Ross Report with Jim Ross," Wrestling News reported.
Punk is currently in training ahead of his eventual debut in UFC. It's likely fans will never see him return to WWE, but as we always say, 'never, say never.'
