Ronda Rousey made an explosive WWE debut at WrestleMania 31 at the end of the March, as the UFC Women's Bantamweight Champion upended Triple H with a classic judo throw.
Rousey and WWE legend The Rock teamed up to frustrate, anger and beat up HHH and his wife Stephanie McMahon, and the WWE Universe absolutely loved it.
Naturally, rumors and speculation about an actual match for Ronda Rousey in WWE followed, with reports in early April suggesting that the WWE were going to build towards a WrestleMania 32 match between Rousey and Stephanie McMahon.
Will Rousey return?
Stephanie has tried her best to defuse those suggestions and UFC boss Dana White has also stressed that he doesn't want Rousey to appear at Mania next year in Texas.
While White will no doubt hold major sway over Rousey when it comes to a decision on next year's Mania, new reports today reveal that the WWE is still planning to go ahead with the idea that Rousey will compete at WrestleMania 32.
Wrestling News reported on Thursday that the WWE are planning an angle for Rousey in October, which will help the UFC star build up a match for next year's Mania.
"One person in the company with knowledge of the entire situation with Rousey in WWE says that, despite WWE being blindsided with Dana White saying that she was "one and done," the company is still on track to do an angle for October to build for WrestleMania 32," Wrestling News reported.
It remains to be seen whether or not Rousey does indeed participate at Mania next year, but no doubt the possibility of her competing will be exciting WWE fans right now.
Huge coup for WWE
Having a female performer with real star quality will only enhance the WWE's Mania push next year, and Vince McMahon will surely be doing all he can to get her on board.
