Jose Mourinho’s decision to give his Chelsea players an extended break following the clinching of the Premier League title last weekend has not gone down well at Manchester United, it would seem.
According to the Daily Telegraph the Red Devils are miffed at the Blues’ actions as they feel it could give Liverpool an advantage as the race to secure a position in the Premier League’s top four heats up.
The race for the top four
At the moment United and Liverpool are neck and neck and with the latter set to play Chelsea this coming weekend the former would have been forgiven for expecting something of a reprieve.

However Mourinho has afforded his players an extra two days off this week, allowing them to spend Wednesday and Thursday doing what they please as opposed to training as usual.
That means that The Special One will only have Friday and Saturday to work with his squad ahead of what is sure to be a tough fixture against Liverpool at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

Whilst Mourinho himself is expected to defend his ruling when given the opportunity - after all it is his team and he is a notoriously meticulous preparer - United are sure to cry foul play should Liverpool manage to take points from the Blues and take a step closer to beating them to the all-important fourth spot.
In truth United fans might have expected the race for European football to be over by now, given how efficient Van Gaal’s side have been during the second-half of the season.
And yet a disastrous run of results has seen them lose three on the bounce without scoring a goal, and now they stand but four points ahead of Liverpool with three games still to play.
The run in
One of those games is against current high-flyers Arsenal, and though the fixture is to be played at Old Trafford Van Gaal’s charges will have to be at their very best to dampen the fires Arsene Wenger appears to have lit underneath his in-form outfit. Before that the Red Devils take on a potential banana-skin in Crystal Palace away, and then finish the season away at Hull City.
Liverpool meanwhile have the aforesaid clash with league winners Chelsea prior to welcoming Crystal Palace to Anfield. They finish their season playing away at Stoke City, which is always a tough contest regardless of the stakes.
Manchester United fans, do you think it’s fair that Chelsea might be unprepared for their clash against Liverpool? Let us know your thoughts on the matter in the comments box below.
