Kevin De Bruyne is currently being pursued by not only Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich but also Manchester United and Manchester City as well.
That’s the claim to be found in German publication Bild today, where it’s said that both Manchester clubs are amongst a host of suitors ready to bid to take De Bruyne’s services away from VfL Wolfsburg.
De Bruyne resurgence
Having failed to make the grade at Chelsea under Jose Mourinho De Bruyne was sold in January of 2014. However, in an unusual turn of events the Blues appear to have committed something of a transfer mistake as De Bruyne has been in magnificent form ever since moving to the Bundesliga.
As a direct result general speculation has seen him linked with some of Europe’s most affluent clubs, and Bild make an effort today to whittle down the list to just five. On it are Bayern, PSG, Spanish giants Real Madrid and the two aforementioned Premier League sides.
United and City race
With United having just clinched the purchase of PSV’s attacking whizkid Memphis Depay Louis van Gaal is sure to be turning his attentions now to reinforcing other areas of his squad.
That might mean that City can steal the initiative, although Van Gaal will surely put up some fight if it looks like his noisy neighbours are to steal one of the continent’s leading gems without proper competition.
De Bruyne's decision
It may just be that a return to England is the road of choice for De Bruyne as it would give him the perfect opportunity to show Mourinho just what he’s missing.
On top of that the Premier League is arguably the toughest in the world, and having been unsuccessful during his first attempt to crack it, it might prove an attractive proposition for De Bruyne to have a second stab.
United and City fans, where do you rate your chances of landing De Bruyne? Could it happen this summer? Let us know your thoughts in the comments box below.
