Manchester United and Arsenal have both been linked with Barcelona star Pedro in recent weeks and neither will have been handed any reason to cool their interest by his showing against Real Sociedad this weekend.
Admittedly with United finally having clinched the signing of PSV wonderkid Memphis Depay last week it looks unlikely that they’ll be pursuing the services of another attacking midfielder, but all the same they’ll have been given cause to sit up and take notice.
With Barcelona leading David Moyes’ Sociedad by a slender 1-0 margin - their dominance in terms of chances was anything but slender - the last few minutes of the clash at the Nou Camp could have been cagey, particularly with the Catalans looking to banish Real Madrid’s title challenge heading into the last few fixtures.
Yet in a manner that befits a Barca frontline that has looked exquisitely poised to take a place in the pantheon of historically great forward units, Pedro was able to allay fears that Sociedad might spoil the party.
The Spaniard executed a delightful bicycle kick from just inside the area after Luis Suarez has been denied by a timely interception, and in truth Sociedad goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli had essentially no chance of keeping it out.
It might not be enough to convince Luis Enrique to put Pedro ahead of the trio of Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez in the pecking order - the triumvirate have a combined tally of over 110 goals this season - but it certainly won’t have hampered his chances any.

In the meantime, is that Arsenal fans getting excited that he could be reunited with Alexis Sanchez I hear?
