Ruben Loftus-Cheek has dropped a huge hint that he’s set to start for Chelsea when they take on top-four hopefuls Liverpool later on today.
The clash at Stamford Bridge, scheduled to kick off at 4pm, could go someway to deciding whether or not Liverpool stand any chance of pipping Manchester United to the all-important fourth Premier League spot before the end of the season.
Chelsea’s preparation for the game has already come under scrutiny due to Jose Mourinho’s decision to allow his players an extra two days off this week.
The Blues clinched the Premier League last weekend via their 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace, and United are believed to be concerned that Mourinho isn’t going to approach his side’s next game with the same mind-set he’s enforced all season.
To make matters more interesting, Loftus-Cheek, who has never started a game for Chelsea’s senior side, posted to his Facebook that today was the ‘biggest day of my life’, which many have taken as confirmation that he’ll make his full debut.
According to 101 Great Goals the post was taken down about an hour later - proof if it was needed that the information was probably genuine - but not before it was copied onto other social media outlets like Twitter, ensuring it was seen by plenty of people.
Post in question
Tipped for a bright future Mourinho has already heavily insinuated that Loftus-Cheek will be with his first-team next year, with the 19-year-old having featured in the Champions League earlier on this season.
If that’s the case he’ll be looking to make a lasting impressing this afternoon, if he’s not punished for leaking squad news early that is.
