Ever since Dean Ambrose's WWE main roster debut back at Survivor Series 2012, many of the WWE Universe have eagerly awaited the unusual superstar's inevitable heel turn.
Ambrose found fame as one of the strangest characters on the wrestling scene, known as Jon Moxley. A character that was not shy to bleed and speak his mind.
It seems WWE are ready to allow this character on the main stage because rumors this week suggest that Ambrose could be turning as soon as next weekend's Payback event.
The fan favourite has been the one member of The Shield to make the least impact since the demise of the stable the night after Payback last year, as former team mates Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns have main evented WrestleMania together and Reigns has won the Royal Rumble whilst Rollins is currently carrying the World Championship.
This doesn't look like it's effected the Lunatic Fringe, but it could be a good reason for him to turn and align himself with The Authority, because he feels he may be handed a title that way, much like Rollins was.
Ambrose hasn't held a title since he was the longest reigning United States Champion of the modern era, and lost the title in a battle royal, to Sheamus last year. It was often commented on how little Ambrose defended the title whilst he was champion and his win/loss record at Pay-per-views since The Shield split has been abysmal.
It's interesting that WWE is putting all of the former Shield members in a main event already as that was first discussed as a potential WrestleMania 32 idea.
Although, Sunday's Fatal 4 Way match gives WWE the chance to turn Ambrose and Reigns on Orton. The company is lacking in credible heels but they do have new baby-faces that they could be pushing.
It still seems to be open to speculation as to which former member of The Shield will be turning next Sunday as many fans have hinted that the following Dean has would make it hard for him to be disliked as a heel, whereas Roman Reigns is already gaining a heel reaction and it would be an easy transition for him to become a heel superstar much like Batista managed last year following his reaction after winning the 2014 Rumble.
It is likely that these rumors will help push the WWE Network out further as it has been announced that May is also a free month to new subscribers so Payback will also be a free event.
