Arsenal and Liverpool are on red alert ahead of this summer’s transfer window, with both clubs set to pounce regarding Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema.
According to talkSPORT, relaying suggestions made by Mediaset TV, Los Blancos are keen to replace the France international, who has been at the Santiago Bernabeu for five years now, with a younger model. Carlo Ancelotti has had good use out of him during his tenure but it appears freshening up their frontline is how Real want to move forward.
The report in question states that £32 million will be the fee needed to begin serious negotiations, with Benzema still having four years to run on a lucrative deal he penned just last year. He’s been heavily linked with numerous Premier League clubs in the past and Arsenal and Liverpool are supposedly considering meeting the aforesaid sum.

Both clubs have been interested in Benzema for sometime, with it being said last year - before he signed his new deal - that he was close to a move to England.
Premier League interest
Coincidentally the Gunners and their Merseyside counterparts are tipped to be in the market for a new forward come the summer, and perhaps the ex-Lyon hitman is the ideal candidate.

Though Arsenal boast Olivier Giroud, who has looked increasingly prolific of late, they lack a natural finisher in the mould of Thierry Henry or Robin van Persie.
It could be said that without Alexis Sanchez’s goals from midfield they would have struggled to compete as fiercely as they have this term and as they look to press on next season they’ll want to be stronger going forward.
As for Liverpool they still have yet to fill the void left by Luis Suarez. Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert were both purchased in a bid to replace the goals the Uruguayan accumulated prior to his exit to Barcelona, but neither has looked up to the task.
Finding Daniel Sturridge a reputable partner will be key for Brendan Rodgers, and in this respect money isn’t likely to be an obstacle.
Of course Benzema himself might have different plans altogether, and Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain are almost certain to be in the hunt for his signature if indeed Real make it clear this season is to be his last in the Spanish capital.
A glorious homecoming could appeal to him and PSG will likely be planning for life after Zlatan Ibrahimovic with the Swede approaching the end of his career.
