Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger should look to bring Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel to the Emirates this summer, according to Gunners hero Ian Wright.
Wright tweeted yesterday afternoon, claiming that Skrtel would make a great signing for anyone in the top four after Liverpool's hopes of Champions League qualification were all but ended as they only managed to secure a 1-1 draw with Premier League champions Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
In fact, Wright insisted that he 'would love' the 30-year-old at Arsenal as the club go in search of improvement ahead of the 2015/16 campaign.
There's no doubt about it, the Slovakian ace has been the Reds' standout defender of the campaign, so it's not entirely surprising that Wright thinks he should move on in the upcoming window.
In truth, though, it wouldn't be easy to land the centre-back from a rival, but it remains to be seen as to whether Wright's words have any impact over the player's future.
Wenger doesn't want a defender
One thing's for sure, Wenger may well take some convincing to enter the market for a centre-back this summer. After all, the Gunners boss recently stated that he won't be looking to add a central-defender to the Emirates anytime soon.
When asked about a potential defender signing, as reported by Sky Sports, the Gunners chief stated: "Four is enough.
"(Mathieu) Debuchy can play there, (Nacho) Monreal can play there, so you can say we are not out to buy a central defender.
"And will be a great central defender, believe me."
It's seemingly unlikely, then, that the Arsenal hierarchy will attempt to bring Skrtel to the club anytime soon.
Liverpool must keep Skrtel
And, from a Liverpool perspective, the Anfield outfit must keep their star defender at the club ahead of the 2015/16 campaign. There's no doubt about it, the Merseyside club have improved in the defensive department of late, with Skrtel having played a key role for the club.
Ultimately, the experienced Slovakian is a fine leader of the back-line and must be kept as Brendan Rodgers and Co. go in search of improvement.
At the end of the day, as Liverpool go about building a platform for success ahead of next season, it's crucial that they maintain the services of their best players. That means keeping Skrtel is key.
