Bayern Munich should consider a huge swap deal involving Mario Gotze and Manchester United star Angel di Maria this summer, according to ex-Liverpool man Dietmar Hamann.
As reported by Goal.com, Hamann, who also starred at Manchester City throughout his playing days on English soil, has insisted that it's time for the Bavarians to move on Gotze, who has endured a torrid campaign in the Bundesliga.
In fact, Hamann has suggested that the player isn't happy at the club and should leave sooner rather than later, hinting that Pep Guardiola and Co. in the Bayern ranks should attempt to complete a swap deal with Manchester United involving Argentine international Angel di Maria.

Writing in his column for Goal, the ex-Germany international stated:"Gotze seems to like a more harmonious atmosphere and Bayern are highly likely to sell him. He’s not happy at the club, and the club aren’t happy with him. When that’s the case it’s better all round to have a parting of the ways.
"Bayern will want to get back roughly what they paid for Gotze but whether anyone is willing to cop a £30m fee is another matter.

"There has been talk of a swap with Manchester United for Angel Di Maria. Whether that is likely I don’t know, but Di Maria is the type of player Bayern need, and they have to bring in players of his calibre."
Of course, it's far from certain as to whether Bayern will even attempt to complete a swap deal with the Red Devils this summer, but it certainly wouldn't come as a major surprise if they swooped for Di Maria.
Ultimately, Di Maria, much like Gotze, has endured a nightmare campaign, failing to prove his credentials. The Argentine has looked a shadow of his former self, and may well be in need of a move away from the Theatre of Dreams.
United, though, shouldn't be tempted by any potential deal involving Di Maria and Gotze. Ok, so Di Maria is struggling, but so is Gotze, and there wouldn't really be room for the German ace at the Theatre of Dreams.
With the likes of Wayne Rooney, Juan Mata and Ander Herrera, Louis van Gaal already has a number of technically gifted playmaker-type players in his squad, so he doesn't particularly need to add Gotze to his ranks.
Van Gaal appears to be determined to find a balance to his side sooner rather than later, so should look elsewhere if he decides to move Di Maria on.
