Luis Suarez doesn't think much of Cristiano Ronaldo

Published 21 Comments

Any player new to the Nou Camp faces a tough task winning over the Barcelona fans, especially if you have just cost the club £75m and arrived with a four month worldwide ban.

Luis Suarez certainly had the odds stacked up against him when he completed his controversial move from Liverpool last summer, but has gone on to form a formidable partnership with Leo Messi and Neymar Jr.

As if the Barcelona fans didn't love their snappy Uruguayan enough already, he just endeared himself to their hearts even more by absolutely slamming Real Madrid star, and all-round Barcelona nemesis, Cristiano Ronaldo.

It seems written in the stars that the two La Liga giants will meet in this season's Champions League final. Barcelona need only avoid disaster at Bayern Munich while Real Madrid have been tipped to overturn a delicate advantage against Juventus.

Suarez seems ready for a European El Clasico and has already lit the tinder by questioning Ronaldo's ability now he is the wrong side of 30.

Stoking the fire

Not only that but he has also suggested that his teammate, Messi, who finished second behind Ronaldo in this year's Ballon d'Or, is now clearly the better of the two.

He told football magazine Le Buteur, and quoted by The Telegraph: "Messi is natural, it is his character. He is the best in the world but he was born with his qualities.

"Ronaldo has progressed and worked a lot to perform how he does. He's not at the same level he was when he started. I think Leo is the best."

They don't like each other

Suarez and Ronaldo have their own history too, of course. The pair were set to share the European golden boot after lighting up their respective leagues in the 2013/14 season.

However, because Suarez disgraced himself at the World Cup by biting Giorgio Chiellini, Ronaldo refused to stand next to him and share the boot.

The result was a separate ceremony for each player and life went on.

All Suarez has done with these comments is spark the Messi/Ronaldo debate back into life. Now we want you guys to tell us who you think is best.

For your information, Ronaldo has scored 54 goals this season compared to Messi's 53. However, the Argentine has 27 assists whereas Ronaldo is trailing by some distance on 21.

Ronaldo (51) has played one less game than Messi (52).
