Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has called upon super agent Jorge Mendes to help broker a deal for Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann, reports El Confidencial.
The France international joined Atletico Madrid from Real Sociedad last summer after a stellar season in San Sebastien. He has continued that fine form for Diego Simeone's men, scoring 25 goals across all competitions.
Atletico paid £24m to sign Griezmann and thought they would be safe by entering a release clause of £43m in his long-term contract at the Vicente Calderon.

However, his goal scoring exploits have attracted the interest of Chelsea, who are seemingly willing to pay the buyout clause to bring him to Stamford Bridge.
Mendes, who is a major player across Europe's biggest clubs, was heavily involved in the deals that brought both Diego Costa and Filipe Luis to west London last summer and has retained a close relationship with the men that matter in Madrid.

Ready to sell
The same report suggests that Simeone is happy to see Griezmann leave if it means he can reinvest the funds in his squad. Making almost £20m on the player after just one season is the kind of savvy business Simeone thrives on.
However, Atletico will retain their policy of not letting any player go for a penny less than their release clause. Mourinho will be hoping to use Mendes to help broker a fair deal for Chelsea.
Competition for Hazard
It would still be a surprise to see Griezmann join Chelsea, even though reports seem to be intensifying as we head towards the summer.
The Frenchman is a renowned wide forward, meaning he would be competing directly with Eden Hazard, Willian and Juan Cuadrado for a place.
The latter of that trio only joined in January and his place in the first-team would come under immediate threat.
Spreading out the goals
But Mourinho will be keen to take the pressure off his main goal scorers. After Diego Costa (19 goals) and Hazard (14) Chelsea's next top scorer in the Premier League is Oscar with just six.
Griezmann would provide much-needed to both Hazard and Costa whilst also making the attacking line-up much stronger overall.
Is Antoine Griezmann the right man to help Chelsea defend their title next season?
