Chelsea are ready to step up their efforts to sign Queens Park Rangers goalkeeper Robert Green after the west London club were relegated from the Premier League, reports The Evening Standard.
Petr Cech will almost certainly bring an end to a hugely successful career at Stamford Bridge this summer after spending much of the current season on the bench.
Jose Mourinho has continued to tell reporters that he would prefer to see Cech remain at Chelsea but it is widely believed that the 32-year-old will be allowed to leave for the right price.

The Blues expect their £10m asking price to be met and will therefore need a new reserve goalkeeper to back up Thibaut Courtois next season.
Arsenal, Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain are all interested in Cech while the player's agent has also confirmed preliminary talks with Besiktas are already underway.

The perfect replacement
Mourinho can not hope to attract a goalkeeper of Cech's class and has made Green his first choice target as a result.
Green has huge experience in the Premier League and has impressed despite QPR's demise this season. Having also been capped by England 12 times, Mourinho believes the 35-year-old will be the perfect man to keep the bench warm.
Green earns around £40,000-a-week at Loftus Road and would demand just as much to play second fiddle at Chelsea. But that wage would represent a significant saving on what they current pay Cech.
Cech earns a reported £120,000-a-week at Chelsea, which is probably the most of any reserve goalkeeper in the world. Mourinho has worked hard to keep Chelsea on the right side of financial fair play and this will be another step towards making the Blues more profitable.
With just 12 months remaining on Green's contract and with significant savings to be made, QPR are likely to accept an offer of £2m.
Pressure off Courtois
A worry for Mourinho will be the lack of competition that now faces Courtois. The Belgian has been on his toes with the threat of Cech behind him, but may take his eye off the ball when his only competition is someone of much smaller stature.
