Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger sees Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech as a priority target this summer but fears that Blues boss Jose Mourinho will scupper any potential deal.
This has been reported by the Mirror, who claim that the Gunners boss is determined to improve his options in the goalkeeping department, and wants to bring 32-year-old Cech to north London in the upcoming window.
The same report goes on to reveal that the club's former No.1 Wojciech Szczesny, who has been replaced in the starting XI by David Ospina in recent time, faces the axe in the summer after a torrid campaign in north London.
In fact, it has been suggested that the club still have some doubts over Ospina despite his strong performances between the sticks in the second half of the campaign.
Will they sell?
That may well lead the Arsenal hierarchy to Cech, but it's far from certain as to whether Chelsea would be willing to offload the 'keeper to their Premier League rivals at this stage.
Ultimately, despite being 32-years of age, Cech is still recognised as one of the best goalkeepers in world football, so would no doubt enhance the Gunners in their attempts to secure title success in the 2015/16 season.
The report goes on to reveal that the club do have a back-up option, with Brazilian ace Norberto Neto on the list of potential targets, but it appears that the club will still try and land Cech in the next window.
He'd be brilliant for Arsenal
Let's be honest, despite Ospina impressing in recent months, Cech would be an outstanding signing for the Gunners as they go in search of constant improvement under the guidance of Wenger.
At the end of the day, Cech has been there and done it and is still top class, so would no doubt act as a leader for the Gunners, who only appear to be a couple of signings away from making a real go of challenging for the league title.
There's no doubt about it, the Chelsea man would act as a fine leader for Arsenal's back-line, but surely there's no chance Mourinho will sell to the north London outfit.
He will certainly know that Cech could make a huge impact at the Emirates, so will no doubt be hoping to move him out of England.
