Arsene Wenger is entering the transfer market in search of extra creativity. Although flair players certainly are not top of Arsenal's wish-list, when players like Isco and Mario Gotze become available, you have to move fast.
Isco is a Spanish playmaker who made is name at Malaga. A product of the Valencia youth system that has produced players like Juan Mata and David Silva, the 23-year-old moved to La Rosaleda in 2011 for roughly £6 million.
After some impressive performances in the Champions League, Arsenal and Real Madrid fought it out to sign the talented young Spaniard. Isco opted for a stay in La Liga with Los Blancos, but having been forced deeper into midfield due to the arrival of James Rodriguez, he looks set to be on the move yet again this summer.
Gotze, 22, has come under criticism from Bayern Munich fans and ex-players also. The midfielder, who scored the winning goal in the 2014 World Cup final, was looked at by Arsenal in his early Borussia Dortmund days, however the Gunners opted to buy Thomas Eisfeld, now at Fulham, instead.
Franz Beckenbauer and Dietmar Hamann have both publicly criticised Gotze, and the latter of Bayern's ex-players believes Gotze and Bayern Munich should part ways.
It is believed that Isco could cost the Gunners as much as £45 million, although Arsenal believe a figure around £30 million is a more realistic fee.
Similarly with Gotze, Arsenal are looking at roughly £30 million to bring the German to the Emirates Stadium. Gotze would fit in well at Arsenal, with World Cup winning trio Mesut Ozil, Per Mertesacker and Lukas Podolski all currently at the club.
We expect Arsenal to make one marquee signing this summer, after bringing in Ozil and Alexis Sanchez over the last two seasons. Both would suit Arsenal's style of play, but who would be a bigger success?
