The future of Pedro has as a Barcelona player has long been the subject of intense speculation but, according to the club’s sporting director, the Spain forward shall not be departing in the summer transfer window.

Pedro has been somewhat cast aside following the rise and rise of MSN - Messi, Suarez and Neymar, of course - who between the three of them have scored over a century of goals in a sensational season.

It is unfortunate for Pedro who, even on his best form, would be unlikely to dislodge any of this esteemed trio. Understandably, the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool have been linked.

However, despite just 13 La Liga starts for Barcelona this season, Ariedo Braida has been firm in his assertion that Pedro remains part of the club’s plans and is not for sale.

"Pedro is, and will remain, a Barcelona player," Braida said.

"He's a very important player for us, and will not leave in the summer. He has a contract, and will remain at Camp Nou, even more so since we have a transfer ban.

"Could he leave in January? I don't think so. He'll definitely stay until January. I repeat: he's an important player, and will stay at Barcelona."

Who would he suit?

Were he, however, to become available then it perhaps would Liverpool where he would be best suited, considering their want for goalscoring reinforcements and the style of play implemented by Brendan Rodgers.

Liverpool are crying out for a player to fill the significant void left by Luis Suarez and, although not as prolific, Pedro is the type of versatile forward who could just provide Rodgers what he is looking for.

Last season the 27-year-old was able to score 19 times in all competitions, and what the Reds would currently give for a player capable of producing something in that region.
