Barcelona superstar Luis Suarez has paid tribute to Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard after the former England international played his final game at Anfield yesterday afternoon.

Gerrard, who is set to join LA Galaxy at the end of the campaign, has enjoyed a remarkable career on Merseyside, claiming numerous pieces of silverware, including FA Cups and the Champions League.

And Suarez, who played alongside the midfield veteran at Liverpool, has insisted that his ex-teammate is a legend and 'one of the greatest'.

Suarez hails Gerrard

Writing on Twitter, Suarez stated: "Thank you, legend for all you made me live in Anfield and for all the joy you have given to the football world.

"Thank you my friend for everything. You are truly one of the greatest!"

One thing's for sure, after an emotional afternoon at Anfield yesterday afternoon, the Reds skipper will be determined to help his side to one last victory next weekend against Stoke City.

Time to move on

For Liverpool, it's now crucial that the club's hierarchy make the right movements in the transfer window after a season to forget.

There won't be Champions League football at Anfield next term, but it's crucial that the club add a number of top class players to the squad sooner rather than later as they go in search of improvement.

Brendan Rodgers certainly has his work cut out on Merseyside, and he must get things right in the transfer window after last summer's debacle.
