Ander Herrera is a very good footballer. He offers so much to the Manchester United cause: tenacious, classy, a creator and a goalscorer.
The Spaniard, who arrived on English soil this past summer, endured a tricky opening to his Red Devils career. We could all see that he was extremely talented, but it was clear to everyone that he was out of favour under Louis van Gaal.
It was, of course, always going to be difficult. It's never easy to adapt to a new league in a different country. You only have to look at the likes of Angel di Maria and Radamel Falcao to see that.

But the opening five months or so of the season appear to be well and truly behind him. Now, he's an integral member of the Manchester United team, and deservedly so.
Today, against rivals Arsenal, he was fantastic. Of course, there's only one place to start. His goal was of the highest quality: so composed, he brilliantly tucked home a half volley to glide the ball past the David Ospina in the Gunners goal.

It wasn't just his goal, though. His all round performance was delightful. Constantly moving, he dictated and controlled the opening 60 minutes of the clash, until Arsene Wenger's side managed to get themselves into the game.
In recent months, he has been compared to Paul Scholes. Ok, so he's not quite Manchester United's former midfield genius, but he is brilliant in his own right.
Always thinking, always looking for space, he seems to have time when he gets the ball, and more often than not he makes the right decision.
If it's a simple, short pass or a long ball to switch play, it's usually delivered with sublime accuracy. His link up play down the right-hand side, with the duo of Juan Mata and Antonio Valencia, is fascinating to watch.
Mata and Herrera are clearly on the same wave length, whilst Valencia offers the width to allow the Spanish duo to play in the middle.
He will get better
There's no doubt about it, over the coming years, he will only get better in the red shirt of United. As he continues to play, and United continue to grow as a side, he will have an even greater influence on the proceedings.
He's capable of becoming a world-class asset for Van Gaal at the Theatre of Dreams, and a more balanced side will only improve his development. 2015/16 will prove a huge season for the dynamic midfielder.
