Manchester United look set to win the race for Lazio midfielder Felipe Anderson by blowing their rival bidders out of the water with a €50 million offer.
The 22-year-old, who has also been linked with Chelsea, has enjoyed a superb campaign with Lazio, helping them to the brink of Champions League qualification by registering 10 goals and seven assists - and Gazzetta dello Sport say that a bid is forthcoming.
His arrival could spell trouble for club record signing Angel di Maria however. The Argentinian international arrived at Old Trafford for a record £59.7 million fee from Real Madrid but has struggled to settle in his first season in the Premier League amidst reports he is keen on a move to Paris Saint-Germain.
Indeed, Gazzetta dello Sport claim that Anderson will only sign for Manchester United if Di Maria is moved on.
Neville: Falcao has waved goodbye to Manchester United
Gary Neville believes Radamel Falcao waved goodbye to Manchester United supporters when he was substituted during Sunday's 1-1 draw with Arsenal yesterday.
The Colombian is nearing the end of his loan spell where he's managed just four Premier League goals all season - the last of which came in January.
Manchester United have the option of making his move permanent for a fee of around £43 million, but that is highly unlikely to happen - and Neville believes that Falcao has seen the Old Trafford faithful for the last time. “There was disappointment. Then there was a wave and then a second wave," Neville said on his weekly Sky Sports podcast. “It was a goodbye wave.
"Usually you give a salute wave when you are acknowledging the crowd. There was definitely a goodbye to this wave as the hand was moved side to side."
He added: “I don’t think it would be a surprise to anybody to see him leave. It hasn’t quite happened for this season for one reason or another. As a striker you rely on confidence. I don’t think he’s ever been full of confidence since he came to Manchester United."
De Gea thanks fans for support
Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea has thanked the club's fans for their support after yesterday's 1-1 draw with rivals Arsenal at Old Trafford.
The Spanish international, who was forced from the pitch through injury in the second half yesterday, has agreed terms on a deal with Real Madrid according to reports in his homeland.
He wrote on Instagram: Thank you very much indeed for your support. You're unbelievable. I hope the injury is not too serious. #MUFC
