According to reports in Spain, Real Madrid are planning on triggering a repurchase clause on Alvarao Morata worth £21.6 million from when they sold him to Juventus last summer.
Morata came back to haunt his old side in the Champions League as he scored in both legs to send his Juventus team through to the final in June.
Future in jeopardy
If Real were to move in on the signing of Morata then the future of Benzema will be under scrutiny, with the Frenchman looking likely to leave the Spanish capital this summer. This would allow long-term targets Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United to make a move, according to the Daily Star.
It is believed that Real would prefer to sell their star striker at the height of his value, using that money towards a younger more prolific forward, which is where Morata comes in.
Ancelotti’s a fan
Benzema has only managed to break the 20-goals a season record once for the current Champions League holders. However this simply doesn’t bother boss Carlo Ancelotti, who is a massive fan of the big forward, and has played up the work rate of the striker.
With Ancelotti’s position as boss looking very precarious after falling out of the race for the La Liga title and the Champions League in a week, he might not have a say in the Frenchman’s future.
Best option for Benzema?
With United in the market for a forward to replace the seemingly outgoing Radamel Falcao they will have their eye on Benzema as they look to return to European’s elite after a short stint out of Europe.
That, plus the fact that Liverpool will have to settle for Europa League and Arsenal already have strikers at their disposal, could mean that the best option for the French international would be United, as they look set for a big season next term under Louis van Gaal.
