Chelsea followers had something of a rude rumble from their Premier League dream last night, falling to Tony Pulis’ West Brom 3-0 at The Hawthorns.
It certainly won’t have been enough to wake the fans from their pleasant slumber given that the league title is already wrapped up, but a source of discomfort it must be seeing as though it’s only the third time Jose Mourinho’s men have lost domestically this campaign.
On top of that Francesc Fabregas was given his marching orders, meaning that he’ll be suspended from the Blues last game of the season.
Whilst that shouldn’t have too much bearing on the result it does mean he won’t be able to match the all-time Premier League record for assists in a single season - set by Thierry Henry at 20.
But, if you think it’s all woe and despair then think again! We’ve gathered the latest news surrounding Chelsea as we approach the twilight of the 2015/16 campaign. Read on if you’re interested and don’t forget to comment in the box provided below.
First and foremost Jose Mourinho has looked to clarify the rumours suggesting that he had spoken to Florentino Perez over the possibility of returning to Real Madrid.
Word on the grapevine was that Perez had called Mourinho in a bid to convince him to move back to Spain and retake control of Los Blancos following a disappointing season under Carlo Ancelotti.
However Mourinho has made it clear that whilst Perez did call, it was only to congratulate him on winning the Premier League title, not to poach him from Stamford Bridge. The Special One duly made it publicly clear that he wanted to stay in west London, so Chelsea fans can rest easy for now.
Mourinho on Cech
One thing supporters won’t be pleased to have witnessed is Mourinho confirming that Petr Cech could well move to a Premier League rival.
The veteran stopper looks destined to leave the Blues having lost his place to Thibaut Courtois, and Mourinho has admitted that whilst he wouldn’t want to see him playing for the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool - two registered suitors - he won’t have a say in the matter.
Cech's agent quotes
Last but certainly not least we turn to Cech’s agent, Viktor Kolar, who has coincidentally supposedly made clear his client’s desire to move to either Manchester United, Arsenal or Paris Saint-Germain.
The comments, relayed by Czech journalist Karel Haring, won’t be digested easily by the Chelsea faithful, and could provide problems moving forward, but it’s likely Kolar will either confirm or deny soon.
